Haoshu Sascha Deng is a Filmmaker
& Arts Educator based in Chicago, IL.

Her work as a director and cinematographer has been featured at Chicago International Film Festival, Midwest Film Festival, Kansas City Underground Film Festival, and more. Her next screening will be at Reel Poetry International Film Festival in Houston, Texas, in September 2026.  She also writes and performs as a member of sunshy.

From the Afterlife (Poetry Film)
A poetry film made in collaboration with poet, writer, and translator Kirun Kapur, based on the poem of the same name. Shot on 8mm film and edited using archival footage.

Created as a part of Matwaala 10th Anniversary Mehfilm Festival.

Lucky Superstar (Music Video)
For Chicago based indie-rock artist Pictoria Vark’s single “Lucky Superstar”, I conceptualized a fuzzy and layered music video that reflects the deep rumbles of the distorted bass. The video is shot on super 8 film and developed by CineLab Boston.  






Make Me A Sword (Music Video)
For Chicago based indie-rock artist Pictoria Vark’s single “Make Me A Sword”, I conceptualized a  music videos inspired by occult and medieval imagery, including the Rider-Waite Tarot Sword suite decks and Joan of Arc.
